So what does a new diet medication on the market mean? What
if this medication proves to have little if any side effects in the short and
long term? What if it is reasonably priced and can be prescribed to patients
of most ages. And what if the medication will have positive long term affects
on ones weight. Perhaps the last one may be a little too much to ask for. Yes of
course it would be nice if one could take some pills for a while and never face
being overweight again but I don't know if we will ever come to that, at least
in my opinion not for a long time. But let's assume the above other statements
are true and that the masses who are overweight can take Taranabant what will
this mean? Will this mean that there is no longer an obesity problem in the US? Will people be able to just eat whatever they want and exercise no more than to walk to their cars and still shed the pounds? Will society now be the ever sought after slim, fit and healthy generation we have not ever seen before. Well my guess is not likely. It seems to me that there are more diet products on the market than ever before. Does this mean that they do not work given the percentage of overweight people? Well perhaps some don't and perhaps some do, but any diet medications can make the statement that when taken correctly they can help the obese individual lose weight. And this of course is backed by the FDA. So why the ever growing number of overweight people? A major issue to blame is our sedentary lifestyle as compared to generations past. I don't even have to go into all the conveniences we have today. TV, Computers, Automobiles, etc. This coupled up with fast food and other non healthy food products. Our society has become an ever changing group, but not as much as in the past couple decades. And one major one is the obesity factor. So where does it all end? I think people need to realize that in order to lose weight, they need to do some form of regular exercise and watch what they eat period. This is not to say that a good diet medication can't help if prescribed correctly. But there is no magic pill, no simple formula that allows you to eat and drink what you wish when you wish then just swallow a pill of modern science only then to be as lean as an Olympic athlete. So do take in mind, that if you are wanting to lose weight, and you want a prescription to help, it may in deed help, but do not neglect the other very important equation, that is your lifestyle. Neglect that and you can kiss your long term weight loss target goodbye. |

Taranabant is the generic name given to a new trial medication being tested for the
